Broad St Residence - Partial Renovation

Located on the 3rd floor of an historic building in Church Hill, the space was originally an Odd Fellows Lodge. The building was later converted into apartments but retained aspects of its former use with 14’ high ceilings and 60’ of unobstructed open space. The clients requested a ‘space within a space’ to accommodate family visits and additional storage needs. The resulting design created a self-contained 300 sf bedroom with a loft above. A new skylight roof hatch brought in additional light and allowed access to a small roof garden. The design’s simplicity allowed the historic interior walls and ceiling to be expressed and unencumbered.
